Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide instruction to students in Elementary Statistics (MAT150) during the Fall 2021 semester (September 7 - December 22, 2021). In this course, students are introduced to descriptive and inferential statistics focusing on conceptual understanding and statistical literacy. Topics include: techniques for organizing and presenting data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability, discrete and continuous probability distributions, sampling distributions, estimation, one-sample hypothesis tests, and correlation and regression.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
  2. Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use.
  3. Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes.
  4. Submit final grades in a timely fashion.
  5. Maintain appropriate attendance and student records.



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in mathematics OR a bachelor's degree in mathematics with a master's degree in statistics, mathematics education, or a mathematics-related field such as physics, engineering, or computer science.
  2. Commitment to the community college philosophy.
  3. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  4. Ability to meet the challenges of a broad curriculum and a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds.
  5. College-level teaching experience.


ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

Teaching experience using a learning management system such as Moodle to support and improve instruction.

COMPENSATION : Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
