Summary/Objective

The Learning Services Program, a program for first year students with learning disabilities, is looking for a Writing Mentor for the academic year. The Writing Mentor provides individual assistance to students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder via weekly one-on-one meetings. Writing Mentors are responsible for reviewing academic writing, offering instruction, making recommendations for improving writing skills, and proofreading and editing. Training and supervision will be provided.

Additional Information about the Position
  • 15 hours per week,
  • The position will start in late August.
Minimum Qualifications Including Education
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, or other writing-related field preferred
  • Strong academic or research writing experience
  • Experience/training teaching or tutoring writing, preferably to individuals with learning disabilities
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, patience working with others, and attention to detail
Preferred Education
  • Master's degree preferred, but not required.
Additional Requirements
  • Candidates will be expected to provide a writing sample, preferably of academic research writing.
