The NASA Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium at Carthage College seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator to support a growing portfolio of undergraduate team-based STEM projects and grant management functions. The position serves national and state-wide space-related STEM projects, including First Nations Launch, the Elijah High Altitude Balloon program, a CubeSat program, a high-powered rocket launch competition, UAH research, parabolic flight research, a space station experiment, and various technical workshops in support of these projects. The Project Coordinator supports the Director and Assistant Director in the daily operation of the Consortium and advises and supports student participants across a network of dozens of colleges and universities within the state and Native American students, faculty, and professionals across the nation.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Office management including accounting and invoicing.
  • Project management.
  • Budget management and reporting.
  • Grant compliance monitoring.
  • Hands-on project support and technical leadership.
  • Workshop development.
  • New program development.
  • Student recruiting, recruiting, and supporting students from underrepresented communities and first-generation college students.
  • Supervision of student workers.
  • Outcome tracking and reporting.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with student organizations across the state some laboratory facility management.
  • Limited in-state and national travel may be required.
The successful candidate will have a combination of project management experience and grant management experience. Applicants should exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess advanced proficiency with Excel and standard office accounting and management software.

Desired qualifications include experience managing a budget, grant writing experience, diversity recruiting, and familiarity with the NASA Space Grant College and Fellowship Program.

The position is grant-funded and annually renewable based on the availability of funding. The appointed candidate will report to the Director of the WSGC. Compensation, including full benefits, is competitive and commensurate with experience.
