ACTIVITY LEADER - PART TIME
GRANT FUNDED
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE
Olive-Harvey College is looking for a part time activity leader for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) department. The activity leader will supervise, develop and participate in a variety of activities designed to build students academically and socially.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans activities designed to motivate, inspire, encourage and provide physical movement for youth, including homework assistance, life skills, academic challenge games, drill team, dance/theatre/mime, gardening, bicycle repair and computer repair.
- Designs programs and plans schedule of events. Develops and distributes promotional and marketing information and assists the public with questions and problems.
- Obtains required materials for program activities and reproduces materials as necessary.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and supportive demeanor at all times.
- Ensures that youth are engaged and involved in the selected activity. Oversees participants and volunteers of activity. Maintains program discipline.
- Accompanies participant groups at special events or on program outings.
- Issues Certificates of Completion and Participation for students.
- Opens, closes, secures and maintains a safe program environment and facility; conducts safety checks; administers first aid as required.
- Maintains records and prepares attendance and progress reports.
- Attends mandatory pre-service and in-service training and meetings.
Qualifications :
- Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Proficient in PC desktop and related software programs. Ability to operate a personal computer.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to give verbal instructions.
- Skill in basic filing, record keeping and operation of a variety of office machines.
- Ability to work independently, and in a group to plan and implement events and activities involving youth, families, staff, and volunteers is essential.
- Requires excellent organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills and writing abilities.
- May be required to bend, do light lifting, walk or stand for periods of time while working with youth in this program.
