Chief Communications Officer

Job Description

The Chief Communications Officer develops, implements, and measures the marketing and communications strategy for the University including integrated marketing across channels, branding, media relations, internal communications and social media. Serves as a key member of the President’s Cabinet, and directly reports to the President.

Supervisory responsibilities: Marketing and Communications department employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
  • Works closely with other senior leaders to plan, prioritize, and deliver achievable projects that advance the University’s long-term vision.
  • Develops and implements strategic communications and marketing campaigns to promote the University’s brand.
  • Develops communications to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the University’s priorities are clearly communicated and reflect stakeholders’ feedback.
  • Oversees the creative team that provides creative assets for enrollment management and development.
  • Provides strategic communication support to the University’s leadership team.
  • Manages internal communications.
  • Works to assist in managing media relations and the University’s public image.
  • Provides strategic leadership and management for the Marketing and Communications team.




Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or related area
  • Two years’ experience in public relations and/or marketing, higher education administration, community engagement, brand management, digital media
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary Work
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
