Administrative Assistant



Work Site Location: Coeur d' Alene Campus

Work Schedule: Two positions available. Approximately 19 hours per week. Hours would be between 9am - 7pm.

Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide welcoming and supportive frontline customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The position requires a team attitude and applying knowledge of other NIC departments to perform a variety of day-to-day duties. This position is also responsible for performing a variety of office support and/or secretarial duties for the various departments located in the Cardinal Learning Commons.

Job Duties:


This list includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Provides exceptional customer service. Greets and directs visitors, answers routine questions and inquiries concerning the activities and operations of the various departments located in the Cardinal Learning Commons and makes referrals to other departments.
  • Performs a variety of office support activities and assignments within prescribed and generally routine office procedures; maintains confidentiality.
  • Proficiently utilizes a personal computer to enter data, draft, edit, revise and print letters, tables, reports and other materials. Performs word processing functions for a variety of standard documents and correspondence.
  • Processes correspondence and reports and maintains records and file systems; edits and proofreads documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs typing, copying, filing and general office duties including directing visitors and receiving, relaying and answering routine telephone and/or walk-up inquiries.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars of various departments located in the Cardinal Learning Commons.
  • Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive team attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.


Marginal Duties

  • Assists with special projects as directed.
  • Runs various routine errands, as required, for the department/division.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum one-year full-time related experience and/or training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent customer service, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher software to create, edit and maintain documents
• Possesses the ability and willingness to learn various customized software programs
• Exhibits ability to successfully multitask and perform tasks accurately
• High attention to detail
• Ability to act as a member of a high-functioning team and maintain a positive attitude
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including multiple-line phone and copier
