Project Manager II



Job Summary

The Project Manager II is an experienced professional that provides project coordination and management services for new construction, renovations, and maintenance projects. Facilitates the coordination and preparation of design documents, specifications, estimates, and project budgets. Manages project life cycle to ensure compliance with the contract and project objectives.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Conducts design sessions with internal clients and external consultants to develop conceptual design and project plans.

• Develops planning documents to establish preliminary project budgets.

• Assists with the preparation of RFQ's and RFP's to obtain bid proposals.

• Prepares and submits documents to Department of Environmental Protection, Division of State Fire Marshall, and Building Code Review.

• Facilitates project activities with Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers, General Contractors, Physical Plant staff, Facilities Planning staff, and clients.

• Oversees the quality of work to ensure compliance with design, objects, regulations, and University standards.

• Monitors project budgets.

• Prepares detailed reports on project progress and status.

• Coordinates utilities and move-in process for occupants.

• Provides guidance and technical expertise to other professional staff.

• Forecasts and reports construction cost estimates for projects and monitors project budgets.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.

Two years of professional full-time experience in the field of architecture, engineering or construction with construction document production and project management experience.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

Four years of professional full-time experience in the field of architecture, engineering or construction with construction document production and project management experience.

Two years of full-time employment in a university, local government, or school board Facilities Planning department, with project management experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit drafting software, CADD file management, and database management.

Knowledge of the construction trades and practices.

Knowledge of project control and cost estimating techniques, budget control principles, practices and procedures.

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage concurrent complex multi-million dollar projects.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Skill in negotiation and facilitation.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Ability to review plans and designs.

Ability to calculate construction cost estimates for small projects and minor renovations.

Ability to interpret contract documents, codes, rules, and regulations.

Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with a diverse group of staff, contractors, and trades people.

Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Ability to set priorities and complete assignments within deadlines.

Ability to analyze and solve problems and develop appropriate alternatives where applicable.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
