Responsibilities

Professional Skills Coordination (30%)

  • Communicate and assist in marketing individualized programs to specific students for each major/college
  • Coordinate and plan all Mock Interview events/other professional skills workshops for the office Coordinate and recruit professionals to assist in conducting Mock Interviews which will be around 360 employers per year
  • Organize and coordinate all Dining with Professionals events for students and employers to network and practice etiquette skills Work with campus departments, facilities, and dining to reserve and coordinate event requirements
  • Assist in prospecting new employers to participate in professional skills programming and on campus recruiting efforts
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of all events and programs (Handshake, Presence, campus calendars)
  • Collect, maintain, and develop assessments including semester reports on learning outcomes of programs and services
  • Utilize technology in delivery of office services
  • Meet with students to assist with event questions and respond to all student event inquiries
  • Develop and co-deliver programs/events targeted to students and alumni Develop, disseminate, and analyze evaluations of all Professional Skills events and make recommendations for future events


Student Advising & Faculty Outreach (50%)
  • Create workshop materials relevant to sessions geared toward advancing students’ skills
  • Represent Career & Professional Development and act as contact for faculty to prepare students for employment/internship opportunities
  • Conduct presentations at meetings of student clubs/organizations and classes Present, implement, and grade assignments for classes in conjunction with faculty
  • Meet individually with students to assist with career development and job/internship search preparation
  • Serve as a liaison and maintain relationships within assigned advising areas, industries, departments, and its faculty to market opportunities for students and promote the Professional Skills Program
  • Engage in professional development and education to understand industry, trends, and resources and tools to increase competency in providing career readiness advising
  • Collaborate with the college foundation officer in our efforts to outreach to organizations, employers or alumni to build stronger engagement and develop students professionally


Community/Employer Relations (10%)
  • Development Develop new and maintain existing relationships with employers who have career ready opportunities
  • Maintain an updated database of active employers/organizations for engagement, outreach, and recruitment to participate in general office events/programs
  • Manage all information collected from employers and organize in office system


University Involvement and Development (10%)
  • Market the office to students, faculty, staff, and employers Seek out opportunities for professional development both on and off campus
  • Seek out opportunities for professional development both on and off campus
  • Organize programs and events, promote University to maintain relationships
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Career & Professional Development


Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Minimum of two years experience in Career Services or a closely related/similar services area

Working knowledge of student career development process and current career issues

Previous experience in event management/student programming

Excellent presentation skills along with strong oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced and changing work environment

Proven advocacy and commitment to inclusion and diversity

Experience with MS Office, online databases, and operating AV equipment Preferred: Master's Degree in related field

Knowledge of learning outcomes and processes of an experiential learning program for students

Experience with employer engagement and outreach

Previous experience conducting and facilitating group presentations and engaging audience

Recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees/interns

Able to balance many tasks simultaneously and work well independently

Demonstrated ability to reach out and clearly communicate ideas, facts, and abstract concepts to all constituencies of the university (e.g., faculty and staff, students, employers, alumni, community members) To Apply:
