Led by Dr. Usama Fayyad, the Institute for Experiential AI (IEAI) is built around the challenges and opportunities made possible by human-machine collaboration. The institute provides a framework to design, implement, and scale AI-driven technologies in ways that make a true difference to society. Summary:
The Institute of Experiential AI at Northeastern University is looking for an experienced event planner specialist. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing and producing events for the Institute of Experiential AI including but not limited to outreach events in the local community (on- and off- campus) fundraising events, academic outreach programs etc.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in communications or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in event planning and management.
  • Strong organizational skills and working with multiple teams within the University.
  • Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and/or management.
  • Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and/or volunteer scheduling.
  • Proven contract negotiation and networking skills in sourcing vendors, venues, suppliers etc.
  • Forecasting and tracking of event budget and related processes.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and concept of event planning, production and public relations including technology (AV, AR, app-based event-planning software etc.)
  • Self-starter with the ability to be proactive and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists.
  • Ability to quickly attain a working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
  • Experience in higher education is not required.
  • Required: Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends for special events and programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively across academia and industry.

  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with an ability to navigate complex structures and processes.
