Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: As soon as possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Procurement Director is responsible for directing the central procurement operations for the University and leading the procurement office and staff. The Director is responsible for the on-going review and analysis of University business operations and will serve as the University's interpretative authority on all procurement matters addressed in the Illinois Procurement Code and the Joint Commission on Administrative Rules (JCAR). The Director serves as the University's liaison to the State of Illinois' Chief Procurement Officer for Higher Education. The Director will coordinate and recommend procurement policies and procedures. The Procurement Director reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in any field with 5 years of supervisory experience in procurement or business supply chain management
Progressively responsible administrative experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, sourcing
Proven success at developing and managing a team of professionals in a customer focused organization.
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relating to the areas of purchasing.
Proven success in the development and implementation of company-wide policy and procedures
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or Engineering or related field.
Experience in Higher Education or government entity

WIU's Macomb campus is the educational, cultural and athletic center of the region. Annually, 12 major theatrical and dance productions and studio shows are performed, along with outstanding concerts, lectures, presentations, films, dance performances and more. The Gwendolyn Brooks and Casa Latina cultural centers offer programs and activities focusing on Black and Hispanic cultures, while the Women's Center promotes gender equity through education, support and advocacy. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League.
