Director - LGBTQA Resource Center

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
Established in 2009, the LGBTQA Resource Center is continuously evolving to meet the needs of the diverse LGBTQA+ population on campus, and the Director is charged with setting priorities and implementing strategies that are situated within the long-range plan with the primary goal of increasing the sense of belonging for LGBTQA people on campus.

Responsibilities:
As a visionary leader, the Director will create and sustain a robust network that includes students, alumni, faculty, campus partners and external organizations in an effort to continuously evolve and expand the Center's reach. In an effort to provide individualized support to the LGBTQA students, the Director will seek opportunities to explore the intersectional identities within the LGBTQA population on campus and will actively support the growing number of affinity groups that are formed as a result.

Furthermore, the Director will identify strategies for supporting and developing formally recognized student organizations that have a relationship with the Center and will serve in a formal or informal advising role as necessary. The Director plays a key role in the creation of programming throughout the year, including but not limited to OUTober, Rainbow Graduation and ReachOUT. Reporting to the Director, and assisting in these efforts, will be one full-time Masters-level Assistant Director who is responsible for recruiting, training and program evaluation. Additionally, the Director will be a collaborative leader who is able to partner with a multitude of campus partners to deliver education, training and support to the global campus community. The Director will work closely with the Director of the John D. O'Bryant African American Institute, the Director of the Latinx Center, The Director of the Asian American Center, the Director for the Center for Intercultural Engagement and the Executive Director for the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue and Service. Together with the Dean, the Director and their aforementioned colleagues will identify strategic partners across the enterprise and build coalitions with said collaborators to ensure our learners have a positive and enriching experience. These include but are not limited to staff and students at all of Northeastern's global learning hubs.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field with at least 5-7 years of experience working with diverse or marginalized populations. Knowledge of social justice issues and best practices, programming, student activism and diversity issues is a must. Prior supervision of full-time staff is highly desirable, as is experience leading strategic change within a complex organization.

Salary Grade:
13
