About the Opportunity:
The Executive Director of Engagement and Marketing will serve as the chief engagement and marketing lead for the EDGE. As a senior leader, he/she will be responsible for creating and overseeing an integrated strategic engagement, marketing and communications effort to promote and advance a clear and cohesive identity for EDGE managed initiatives that align and follow Northeastern University's brand identity and its values, and also elevate the visibility of EDGE collaborations with college, corporate partners, and the programs at national and international levels. This position is the primary liaison with central MarComm at Northeastern and works collaboratively with all units in the OTC to find ways to effectively meet the marketing and engagement needs for EDGE.

  • Primary lead for creating and working with program managers to create unique and strong learner engagement - with enterprise partners as well as with direct to consumer programs
  • Leads the design, creation, communication, and distribution of marketing through traditional and digital media in collaboration with central Marketing and Communications
  • Creative lead for our learning assets. Provides branding guidance for EDGE course and program design
  • Develops and implements policies and best practices to ensure EDGE managed programs adhere to university brand and maintain the high standards of quality
  • Works with Campus, College and EDGE leadership to create strategic marketing and media plans and oversees implementation of the plans.
  • Provides oversight of external service providers for EDGE such as online program partners, agencies, independent contractors, and other University collaborators to ensure quality.
  • Oversees financial aspects of the marketing and creative projects, including budget responsibilities and allocation of resources.
  • Provides professional expertise and keeps current with developments in the marketing and communications industry.
  • Acts as liaison with research firms to provide research, analysis, and analytics to EDGE administrators, as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison with campus marketing and communications group, OTC communications and consults with other offices or campus officials when appropriate, and is the primary point of contact for marketing and engagement needs for EDGE.
  • Leads the visual design and branding communications and marketing efforts for the EDGE managed initiatives
  • Benchmarks and measures effectiveness of marketing and communications, with emphasis on continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, advertising, fine arts, business, or media.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in higher education communications, particularly marketing, advertising, and media
  • Must have proven ability to work collaboratively with others in a service unit and provide excellent customer service.
  • Must have strong project management skills, excellent design and communication skills, and demonstrated print and media skills.
