About the Opportunity:
The College of Engineering is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Graduate School of Engineering.
Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in the administrative functioning of the College of Engineering. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Graduate Education, the administrative assistant is the first point of contact for walk-in visitors; responds to student queries received in person, by phone, and online; receives and assigns petitions to graduate advisors for processing; responds to questions from students and faculty about the status of petitions; receives and assigns incoming student questions to graduate advisors; manages the associate dean's calendar; oversees meeting scheduling for the graduate school; supports organization of student records; identifies and reserves space for meetings and special events; provides general assistance to the associate dean; and assists the operations coordinator in supervising student employees.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 2-3 years experience in a customer service, academic or student services environment. Must be able to multitask, work independently, and prioritize activities to manage responsibilities. Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Office required. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to problem solve. Ability to interact with individuals at all levels with diplomacy, discretion and tact. Willingness to accept and take on added responsibilities as the department moves forward.
