About the Opportunity:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking an Administrative Assistant!

Bouve College of Health Sciences is comprised of four preeminent schools of study encompassing approximately 1,000 faculty and staff, 5,000 students, and 40,000 alumni.

Please note: The primary work location for this position is the Boston MA Northeastern University Campus Location. Until our full return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process will be conducted remotely- including virtual interviews, remote onboarding and remote work. The remote nature of this position is subject to change in the future and is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the College and this role return to an operational status that supports it.

Responsibilities:
The Department Administrative Assistant provides a multitude of essential functions for the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Department. This position reports directly to the Chair of the CSD Department. The Department Administrative Assistant provides support in department general operations and a variety of CSD essential functions including in the areas of meeting coordination and minutes, supervision of operations calendar and scheduling, work studies supervision and hiring, work orders, photocopier and fax operations, graduation and general event coordination, department documentation and compliance, correspondence of department main phone line and general email box, greeting guests/customer service, supply management, keys and department access, concur tracking assistance for budget manager and other items.

In addition to the daily functions, this role includes compliance for the department including maintenance of policy & procedure manuals, SharePoint Administration and general Department document management necessary for smooth implementation of practices within the department and general office administration including answering questions from the University and accrediting agencies. They will have ongoing daily supervision of work study student(s).

The Department Administrative Assistant will directly assist the Clinical Operations Administrator in the Speech-Language and Hearing Center (SLHC) with essential functions. In addition, this role will assist the Program Manager and Graduate Program Director with the coordination and preparation of annual and reaccreditation reports through CAA-ASHA. They will also work directly with the Department Chair to assist with schedule management and additional functions as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a customer service environment required.
  • Experience in Higher education, experience with Concur and Sharepoint administration strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast pace environment with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.).
  • Ability to relate well with all levels of the community and people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to accept and take on added responsibilities as the department and school moves forward.
