Salary Basis: 12 month

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the implementation and management of the process to recruit and select individuals to participate in the program.
  • Conduct interviews and assess assigned participants' academic attainment levels, educational needs, and career interests.
  • Administer academic advisement and agency referrals to assigned participants.
  • Monitor program participants and meticulously document activities and tasks to aid successful completion of personalized education plans.
  • Maintain physical and digital case management files for assigned participants.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops on financial aid, ACT registration, ACT prep and other services needed by program participants and partners.
  • Travel throughout 12 counties within the service area to facilitate workshops and provide services to participants, including ACT test preparation, financial aid application, and postsecondary enrollment application.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of the systems for collecting data and providing timely documentation for evaluating program outcomes.
  • Establish partnerships with adult education providers, school districts, social service organizations, and community-based programs with an academic skills development focus.
  • Work closely with Offices of Financial Aid, Student Service Centers, Career Services and similar programs/departments at each of the community colleges and universities in the 12 county service area.
  • Attend professional development trainings/workshops/conferences.
  • Maintain active memberships in state, regional, and national professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Director.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or other field related to the position and experience in adult education programs.
  • In addition, it is desirable for this person to have:
    • Experience in an adult educational setting;
    • Experience with providing one-on-one academic or career guidance to sensitive populations;
    • Good listening, planning, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills;
    • Excellent written and oral communications;
    • Excellent recruiting and retention abilities;
    • Good working knowledge and familiarity of higher education, financial aid, GED and ACT testing and admissions;
    • Good working knowledge and understanding of the psychological, behavioral, and educational issues affecting the learning potential of low-income, first generation participants;
    • Good working knowledge of developing individual education and career plans for sensitive populations;
    • Willingness to regularly travel in the program service area and to attend state, regional and national conferences and workshops;
    • Ability to plan professional development opportunities and provide technical assistance to program staff, partners, and program participants; and
    • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or other field related to the position.
  • Experience in adult and/or underrepresented participants’ education programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured motor vehicle for business use
  • Availability to attend meetings, conferences or special events after normal work hours and on weekends.
  • Experience in working with federally-funded programs.
  • Experience in public promotions to persons from all socioeconomic conditions and communities.
  • Experience with education and career assessment tools and programs.
  • Personal experience in overcoming or understanding disadvantages and circumstances similar to the population served by the program.
  • A commitment to working with diverse populations in the Mississippi Delta, especially economically-disadvantaged populations, including low-income adults, potential first-generation students, students with a disability, and non-traditional students.


Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
