Summary:
Authors the University’s response to charitable commitments including acknowledgement letters on behalf of the University President and Vice President for University Advancement, legal agreements for named current use and endowed funds, and gift resolutions on behalf of the Board of Trustees. Responsible for content and processes associated with each activity ensuring timely and appropriate response to commitments made by donors.

 

Job Description

This Job Is For You If You Are Able To….

  • Write letters on behalf of the President and Vice President, using appropriate voice and tone.
  • Develop resolutions on behalf of the Board of Trustees in response to new donor commitments, maintain record of each piece of correspondence and ensure donors do not experience repeat language and messages.
  • Author legal agreements for named current use and endowed funds; translate donor intent and restrictions into new fund agreements or amendments to existing fund agreements; ensure fund agreements are complete and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Be responsible for content and processes associated with each activity ensuring timely and appropriate response to commitments made by donors.
  • Partner with Principal Gift Office to draft one-off, personalized correspondence from the President, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with development officers to determine donor intent and restrictions on leadership level contributions and commitments.
  • Develop content for templates (for standard acknowledgement letters for various gift types and legal agreements). Update quarterly or more frequently as needed.
  • Provide editing and proofreading expertise.
  • Based on daily acknowledgement spreadsheet, generate list of daily letters to be written. Generate letters within 2 business days of gifts appearing on the Daily Acknowledgement list.

What Skills Do You Need?

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to think creatively about appropriate messages based on donor relationship with Wake Forest.
  • Excellent writing skills required; thorough understanding of tone, grammar, and University style and standards.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Familiarity with higher education fundraising.
  • Familiarity with legal writing style.
  • Ability to take initiative and think creatively.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to high performance.
  • Strong computer skills essential.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel; other relevant software and programs. Familiarity with Google Drive.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
