Job Description:

The Chemistry Department at Worcester State University seeks applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Bioanalytical Chemistry, to begin September 1, 2022.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in biochemistry and experience operating a broad range of instrumentation. Teaching responsibilities include biochemistry, instrumental analysis, and the General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) course for non-majors. The candidate will have the opportunity to shape the chemistry curriculum for students in our one semester non-major course covering General, Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) concepts. The candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Biotechnology program through research with undergraduate and graduate Biotechnology students. Opportunities to teach graduate-level biotechnology courses are available if desired. A typical assignment is two lecture sections and two or three laboratory sections each semester. A commitment to teaching excellence and willingness to sponsor undergraduate research is expected.

Additional Information:

The chemistry program at Worcester State is an American Chemical Society (ACS) approved program. The department has a strong commitment to green chemistry with several curricular offerings and is a Beyond Benign Green Chemistry Commitment signer. Current instrumentation in the department includes ICP, GC/MS, LC/MS, UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometers, a 60 MHz NMR, HPLC, DSC etc.
