Job Description:

The Department of Communication at Worcester State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Media Studies with an emphasis on Multimedia Production to begin in the Fall Semester of 2022. The successful candidate will be able to teach core courses in a diverse interdisciplinary Communication undergraduate program that also emphasizes convergent technology skills used in digital / multimedia production, web/graphic design, digital storytelling, and/or social media. In addition to teaching, the appointee will also be expected to engage in continuing scholarship, curriculum development, student advising, and service to the university and its community. We seek candidates whose teaching focuses on the theory and application of digital media practices, particularly in TV/video and film production, digital storytelling, design, social media, or related areas. The position requires teaching digital/multimedia classes, core courses in the curriculum, along with courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and possess a well-developed Communication or multimedia-related scholarly and/or creative agenda.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • A terminal degree (Ph.D. in Communication, Media Studies, or a closely related field, and/or an MFA in a related field), conferred by September 1, 2022.
  • Engagement in continuing scholarship and service, and advising undergraduate students.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A specialization in visual communication, social media, community media and/or multimedia production.
