The Regional Partnership Center ( RPC ) Training Specialist will provide training and technical assistance to share promising/effective practices to a variety of stakeholders throughout the Mid-State Region. The Training Specialist will engage in systems change work, providing a variety of supports including regional learning opportunities, targeted skills groups, and intensive partnerships. They will be expected to independently perform assignments and apply their own experience/knowledge of high-leverage special education practices and procedures to achieve center objectives.

This is an 11 month academic year position with the month of July off. Qualifications
• Masters degree in Special Education or related field (psychology, counseling, education, etc.) required.

• Three (3) plus years of experience providing professional development (PD) and/or technical assistance (TA).

• Three (3) plus years of experience working in a school setting with special education students.

• School Certification preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
All RPC Professional Staff:
• Understanding of adult learning principles and collaborative practices.
• Experience working professionally with a variety of stakeholders, including parents, educators, school administrators, and community agencies using an intensive team approach.
• Experience providing evidence-based coaching and PD strategies.

Transition Specialist:
• A strong understanding of the transition needs of students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of federal and NYS education regulations and best practices for transition of students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of evidence-based and high-leverage practices for children birth-21 and ability to integrate new evidence-based practices as directed.
• Strong understanding of federal and NYS special education regulations.
• Highly developed analytical, technical, computer, oral and written communication skills.
• High-level of persuasion and negotiation skills.
• Experience building strong collaborations and applying highly developed creative and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities
• Plan, implement, and evaluate regional training, technical assistance and professional development (PD) activities to create systemic change, utilizing tools and training materials developed and/or reviewed by NYSED, under the direction of the RPC Director.

• Provide resources and materials to promote the implementation of evidence-based practices.

• Use evidence-based coaching and PD strategies in school districts identified by NYSED for areas of non-compliance or in need of assistance; provide feedback on implementation of evidence-based practices.

• Engage in the planning process outlined by the NYSED, statewide and regionally.

• Collaborate with other Training Specialists of the Mid-State RPC and the regional leadership team to develop and implement action plans.

• Per NYSED direction, work in collaboration with the FACE Centers to provide capacity building focused on family and community engagement.

• Maintain data on training and technical assistance activities to assist in analyzing the effectiveness of the activities to support needs of the region and inform program reporting to the state.

• Report on activities regularly to supervisor. Physical Requirements
