The salary range is $57,600 -$76,900.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. MSU Denver offers a full benefits package.

The Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Advising will report to the Director of Athletics and ensure a commitment to academic excellence and to the holistic development of all student-athletes. This position is responsible for the advising of student-athletes, developing strategies for academic success and graduation, life skills programming, and post-graduate career advising. This position will also work in collaboration with the athletics administration team to develop and implement academic policies and procedures related to the operation of the sports programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and implement academic support services for student-athletes including: oversight and coordination of academic advising, course scheduling, major declaration, and tutorial services.
• Collaborate with athletics compliance staff to monitor progress-towards-degree and other NCAA, conference and university academic eligibility requirements.
• Conduct academic meetings with student-athletes.
• Assist with course selection, scheduling and registration.
• Teach students about advising based systems and how to best utilize them for success (e.g. Degree Progress Reports, Student Hub, Student Success Collaborative-Guide and Campus, etc.)
• Maintain confidential student files as well as documenting all advising sessions using Banner Student Success Collaborative ( SSC ) program.
• Participate in New Student Orientations (i.e. SOAR, Transfer, etc.)
• Administer progress reports during the fall/spring semesters and conduct follow-up meetings with student-athletes and coaches to develop individualized academic support strategies.
• Prepare departmental and conference academic reports.
• Disseminate information to Department of Athletics staff and student-athletes about campus resources and programming.
• Organize and implement programs that contribute to the educational and personal growth of student-athletes.
• Assist in the development and coordination of all student-athlete life skills programming, study skills/time-management, emotional and social/emotional development, career development, and community engagement.
• Collaborate with the Faculty Athletic Representative ( FAR ) to enhance communication and establish partnerships with members of the faculty, Registrar’s Office, Admissions, and other academic/student-development offices in order to ensure student-athlete success.
• Identify and nominate student-athletes for conference, regional, and national academic awards, scholarships, and other professional development opportunities.
• Provide advisement in the areas of internships, graduate school placement, and career development.
• Serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes.
• Assist the Director of Athletics in the coordination of Athletics ( ATH ) classes assignments, monitor, and review course syllabi.
• Work with other senior staff to assist with game day operations, event coverage, and team travel.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in academic advising or student services.
• Demonstrated understanding of the eligibility requirements of student-athletes as established by university and NCAA regulations.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Two years of experience in advising college students.
