The salary range for this position is $41,200- $61,800. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the ranges of possible compensation at the time of posting. MSU Denver offers a full benefits package. Pay Grade

The Advising & Program Specialist for the Department of Nursing is the primary point of contact to provide information to prospective students on nursing program options and the admissions process. The position is responsible for advising, marketing and recruitment of prospective students, and project management including overseeing the admissions process.

The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. IND208 Duties/Responsibilities
Academic Advising (45%)
• Provide academic advising to both prospective and current nursing students. Admissions counseling will occur primarily by in-person appointments, phone calls, e-mails, and information sessions.
• Coordinate, plan, and prepare for advising sessions.
• Maintain confidential student files and document all advising sessions.
• Disseminate policy and procedural information to students and inform and/or refer students to University resources.
• Participate in advisor training sessions and professional development opportunities.
• Serve as a primary resource for faculty for current nursing student advising information.
• Work with a diverse population of prospective and current students.

Marketing and Recruitment (25%)
• Attend marketing events and information sessions both on and off-campus which will involve some travel and weekend and evening hours.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in representing the University and Department of Nursing.
• Create and maintain documents for marketing and advertising of the program.

Project Management (25%)
• Manage and oversee the nursing application process.
• Create and update the online application system.
• Review and verify all applicant documents.
• Compile data for Admissions Committee review.
• Communicate with applicants in regards to admission status.
• Track and analyze data for regulatory agencies and department use.

Additional Responsibilities (5%)
• Serve on department committees.
• Assist with department administrative duties as needed.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair, nursing faculty and staff, and other University departments.
• Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in admissions counseling, academic advising, or higher education
• Experience providing customer service

• Two years of experience as an academic advisor or admissions counselor
• Experience with Banner or comparable system
• Experience with Degree Works or comparable system
• Experience in presentations and public speaking
• Experience in marketing
• Master’s degree
• Previous experience in nursing or health care
• Experience with project management
