Lecturer in Commercial Photography

Department Summary

The College of Humanities and the Arts operates a faculty-led student marketing team that is responsible for creating marketing materials for the College and the Hammer Theater. Four instructors, of graphic design, photography, videography, and professional/technical writing, each teach a relevant section of HA 187 Creative Team Practicum. The goal of this course is to create an on-campus opportunity for hands-on practical application of concepts and skills for students from a variety of disciplines (Technical Writing, Film, Photography, Graphic Design) to learn and to collaborate in a fast-paced environment that produces real-world deliverables and is representative of work environments that graduates of these majors are likely to encounter in the beginning of their professional careers. The team produces logos, ad-blasts, posters, ads, brochures, flyers, digital banners, programs, blue postcards, web site content plus articles or written text for e-newsletters (Hammer’s Applause; School of Music’s Upbeat), blogs and/or magazines (H&A’s Expressions), video and photography. The work of the marketing team is coordinated by a project manager.
