Missouri State University is accepting applications for a
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT – WEST PLAINS.
Responsibilities: The primary duty of the Director of Development –
MSU West Plains is to bring in major gifts (gifts of $25,000 or
more) by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects for
major gifts, primarily to the MSU West Plains campus; works closely
with Foundation leadership, University administration, and
appropriate faculty of the campus to identify, cultivate, and
solicit potential donors; works in collaboration with the Director
of Prospect Management and Research in determining which donors and
prospects in their prospect pool (consisting of alumni, friends,
parents, businesses, foundations, and organizations) to approach
based on research and other criteria. This collaborative effort,
which may include the Chancellor and others from time to time, also
assists in determining how to approach each potential donor,
whether the potential donor would be more receptive to a formal
written proposal or a verbal proposal, discussing options for
potential outright and/or estate gifts, ways of giving,
negotiating the policies and procedures for administration of their
gifts, determining when travel to meet with donors is appropriate,
exercising budgetary authority over the their travel and
development budget, etc.; provides general guidance for the West
Plains Development Office in collaboration with the MSU Foundation
Office of Development in Springfield and supervises a support staff
person; is the primary contact for major and planned gifts for the
West Plains campus; works with the MSU Foundation Office of
Development to coordinate the distribution of development
publications; works cooperatively with the Assistant Director of
Engagement and Alumni Relations to be aware of annual fund
solicitations and alumni relations and engagement events and also
works cooperatively with the Chancellor, the Assistant Director of
Engagement and Alumni Relations, and the Events Coordinator on
donor recognition and other campus events and functions.

Pay Grade: 44. Salary is commensurate with education and
experience. Successful candidates must be committed to working with
diverse student and community populations. Employment will require
