The School of Graduate Studies at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time 12-month term-tenure track faculty in the School of Graduate Studies. This faculty member will be a 12-month core faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and will teach in an additional allied health program in an area of his/her expertise and the University’s needs (occupational therapy, nutrition and food sciences, healthcare administration, athletic training, exercise science, etc). The faculty member will also be given loading to serve as the Coordinator of Research for the DPT Program. Ideal candidates will have a diverse record of research dissemination and a well-established scholarly agenda within the Allied Health Sciences or related fields. The rank is open and will be determined based on qualifications.

 

Qualifications: Successful candidates will hold an academic terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or ScD) in Physical Therapy, kinesiology, exercise science, anatomy, statistics, education, health promotion, wellness or a health-related field; (ABD candidates will also be considered). Non-physical therapists will be considered; however, preference will be given to candidates who have clinical experience/license in physical therapy or another allied health profession. Candidates must have a track record of scholarly productivity or demonstrated potential for success in peer-reviewed publications.  Experience collaborating with and/or mentoring faculty and/or students on their respective research projects. It is expected that this faculty member will have experience with Institutional Review Board policies and procedures.  One year of previous college teaching experience preferred.

 

The Program: Messiah University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is designed to prepare competent

therapists for meaningful careers as practitioners, educators, administrators and consultants in a variety of professional settings including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, homecare programs, schools and private practices. The program is a full-time, residential, 110-credit program.
