About the Opportunity:
The Student Financial Services Assistant is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service to students and applicants and their families seeking information and/or assistance via phone or in person from Student Financial Services. He/She/They ensures student understanding of policies and procedures related to financial aid and student accounts.

Student Financial Services Assistants are also responsible for:
  • Counseling all current and prospective students and families regarding financing options and financial policies
  • Processing payments
  • Providing administrative and counseling support by assisting and resolving inquiries
  • Intake of all financial aid materials and other disseminated materials

Associates degree or two years of college preferred. Two years of related office/customer service experience. (An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered)

Candidates must also possess the following qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
  • Capacity to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Aptitude with relating to diverse populations and ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
  • Proficiency with multi-tasking, prioritization of duties, and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
  • Analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departmental staff, faculty, students and the public.
