Position Summary:

This position provides program support assistance to UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) for medical records and phone reception/appointment scheduling. These duties are performed with exceptional customer service and helpfulness to our clients, referring veterinarians, UW Veterinary Care and SVM staff. This position acts as the first contact position in the clinic for client and patient information on clinic operations as well as support to the UWVC clinical services. This is a key position that requires a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and compassion, along with considerable knowledge of policies and procedures, background in veterinary medical terminology, problem solving abilities, attention to detail, organization, oral and written skills, and auditing for medical record accuracy in all areas of the UW Veterinary Care clinic for smooth and efficient operation. Variations in the percentage of the assignment of duties will occur based on the overall need for efficient operations in both medical records and phone reception/appointment scheduling. This position is under the general supervision of the Medical Records/Phone Reception Supervisor.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

No degree required; Minimum of Associate's Degree preferred

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

At least 1 year of phone reception experience preferred. At least 1 year of experience working with medical records preferred. Background in medical terminology preferred.

Additional Information:

Requires advanced customer service skills, problem solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Physical Demands:
1. Ability to operate telephone, computer, copy machine and fax machine.
2. Able to sit for long periods of time
3. Able to stand and walk, and occasionally to carry objects up to 30 pounds.
4. Able to stand in medical record aisles and reach up or down for records, and occasionally to use a
step stool to reach high records

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, with 45 minutes for lunch

Potential for on-call hours, as required by the hospital.

This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
