Position Summary:

The Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position at the assistant or associate professor rank beginning August 2022. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment and tenure home in the Department of Sociology. Applicants must hold a PhD prior to the start of the appointment. Research specialization is open; however, we are especially interested in scholars whose research is in the areas of race/ethnicity, health and aging, medical sociology, stratification and inequality, methods (non-specified), organizations, political sociology, economic sociology, or education.

Principal Duties:

Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching, research, and service missions of the Department of Sociology. Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required, as well as mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly research in their area(s) of specialization leading to scholarly publications at the national and international levels. University and professional service required as appropriate.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Ph.D. in Sociology or related fields, with substantive area of specialization open.
