The College of Communication at DePaul is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Communication Studies with an emphasis in communication and technology in an intercultural context. Candidates should focus on social media and social networks, virtual reality and other emerging technologies, digital communication, and/or other technologies that link to intercultural communication.

The candidate will conduct research and teach graduate and undergraduate communication studies courses explicitly related to the use of technology in intercultural communication contexts. Candidates with research expertise and/or production experience in issues of identity and representation, social change and social justice, the construction of culture, and/or health communication contexts are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization as well as courses contributing to the common core in Communication Studies. Nominal teaching load is 2 courses per academic quarter (Autumn, Winter, Spring). Engage in a program of scholarship resulting in peer-reviewed publication and/or creative activity. Participate in service to program, college, university and community.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Communication Studies at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by July 1, 2022; demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level; an active record of scholarship or creative activity related to the candidate’s area of specialty.
