Serve as substitute lead teacher of assigned classroom, to include: Under the direction of the center director, plan, write, and implement lesson plans utilizing thematic units and room environments while addressing the following developmental areas: social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive-intellectual skills. Maintain daily correspondence and reports on children, to include documentation related to each child’s development. Assist children in learning social skills such as sharing, waiting a turn, using words to make needs known, as well as personal care skills such as hand washing. Change diapers, provide toilet training or bathroom assistance as needed, keeping the children comfortable with clean hands and faces. Consistently enforce center discipline policy, supervising children at play in an alert but non-intrusive manner, making developmental observations on each child weekly. Maintain an orderly, clean, and child-oriented classroom. Supervise volunteers and student teachers working as aides in the classroom.
Attend staff meetings and participate in training opportunities each year, as scheduled. Education & Formal Training Other Education & Formal Training
Associate’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Development
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Development.
OR
Child Development Associate ( CDA ). CDA must reflect age grouping: Infant/Toddler or Preschool/SA CDA . Computer Skills Desktop Publishing, Other - Curriculum and child care software Experience
One year of experience working with young children in a child care facility required.

CDA certification and/or transcripts are required as part of the interview process. Other Experience Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position: Criminal History check, Child care security check, Missouri license required Other Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements
Classification E driver’s license may be required after hiring for field trips.

Maintain membership in a state or national Early Childhood organization.

Fingerprinting may be required to meet Early Head Start standards. Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Leadership skills: organization/meeting facilitation/project leadership, Physical abilities: mobility/strength/dexterity/balance/coordination/endurance, Supervisory skills, including motivation, delegation of duties, evaluation, etc, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Ability to show enthusiasm and enjoyment in working with children.

Ability to speak clearly and grammatically correct.

Occasional evening meetings and/or weekend training workshops.

Outdoor time is required during the day. Ability to Keyboard No keyboarding test required. Special Qualifications: Other Special Qualifications
Post-offer physical exam and TB screening as required by licensing and accreditation within 30 days of employment.

In compliance with accreditation guidelines, incumbent must have Child Development Associate ( CDA )or Associate’s degree in child development field.

Per state regulations, incumbent is required to attend training workshops as a condition of employment each year.

Family Care Safety Registry screenings are required for all workers in a child care setting, as required by child care licensing and accreditation.

If a CDA is used to meet qualifications, candidate must maintain certification throughout employment.

First aid and CPR training required within 90 days of employment. Supplemental Questions
