POSITION SUMMARY:  The Manager of Communications & Digital Media will craft messages that drive action and compelling stories that communicate the significance and impact of the Career Development Office’s work. They will harness video (Adobe Premier), graphics (Adobe Illustrator and InDesign), as well as social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook) to convey the what, why, and how about students, outcomes, events, and services. He or she will also manage website content maintenance and updates, liaising between staff about priorities and new information.

The Manager will help our communication be both cohesive but also tailored, as the CDO engages with students, alumni, families, recruiters, and faculty/staff stakeholders. Considering the mobile nature of our audience, this will require agility and research, ensuring that we are connecting with people in the way they are most inclined to receive it. Looking for creative ways to engage various stakeholders, they will work closely with other team members to ensure accurate, concise, and meaningful communication of information and data. When they develop messaging for events like fairs, workshops, external sessions, and conferences, they will communicate with the relevant team about progress and drafts regularly. With outcome focused campaigns like our first destination report, they will project manage the many pieces over multiple months.

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean and Senior Director, Career Development Office, the Manager of Communications & Digital Media works independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee CDO graphic design projects and website updates to maintain uniform office brand. The aim is to further establish the office with both internal and external stakeholders. This work will be in close collaboration with colleagues in the CDO and Communications to ensure consistency within the larger College

  • Develop compelling stories that communicate the significance and impact of the CDO’s work in formats including video, social media, and visual media.

  • Oversee the first destination campaign to communicate graduate outcomes annually, as well as other outcome-focused campaigns, ensuring regular feedback loop with CDO senior management, Communications, and other relevant staff.

  • Manage CDO e-newsletters; develop, solicit, edit, and publish content. Distribute the newsletters. Stay abreast of career center newsletter trends and styles, as well as general e-news trends. Collaborates with ITS to ensure that E-Newsletter distribution list is working properly and up-to-date.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, business administration, a liberal arts field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with graphic design using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator); experience with video content creation, including filming and editing (Adobe Premier); experience drafting online and print content for a variety of stakeholders

 

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: Regular, full-time, 10-month, non-exempt position.  Starting pay rate: $25.90 per hour.

 

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full- time position is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m., Monday – Friday.  Overtime holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required.  Travel may be required.  Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
