Department Chair, Assistant, Associate or Professor in Physician Assistant Studies

The University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences is currently seeking a Department of Physician Assistant Studies Chair and Program Director. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to provide innovative leadership to propel the department to a new level of excellence in education and scholarship that advances the mission of the University, College of Health Sciences and PAS Department. This 12 month, tenure track position reports directly to the Dean and is an integral part of the college’s administration. The chair is responsible for the overall direction and administrative leadership for educational, research, accreditation, and engagement activities, as well as for the management of human resources and budgetary and fiscal resources in the department. 
 
Our well-established and nationally respected program offers an entry-level Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies and enrolls 56 students annually on two campuses in Morehead and Lexington, KY and recently launched a 12-month post-graduate residency program in cooperation with UKHealthcare and another tertiary hospital community partner. The program is currently accredited by the ARC-PA with next review expected in 2027. Initially accredited in 1974, this is the longest running program in Kentucky. A well-balanced, collaborative and dedicated team of 16 faculty and staff implement the 29-month curriculum to prepare highly skilled PA graduates to achieve the mission of improving the health and well-being of the people in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 
 
The position comes with a competitive salary, as well as a generous benefits package. The successful candidate will be assigned 80% of their effort to academic and administrative responsibilities in support of the program. PA-C faculty have an option to participate in the practice plan to provide direct evidence-based patient care as a licensed PA-C in a clinical setting. Established in 1966, the College of Health Sciences is located in the Charles T Wethington Building and includes five academic departments (Physician Assistant Studies, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training & Clinical Nutrition & Health & Clinical Sciences), offering programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. The College also has a Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program— a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional Ph.D. program—and serves as the academic home of innovative research centers.
