Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Facility Operations assists in the planning, organization, and oversight of game operations and special events for FGCU Athletics. Provides oversight of budget, inventory, and preventative maintenance of assigned athletic facilities. Supervises a staff of support, professional and student employees.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Assists with the oversight of day to day operations within the functional area.

Assists with the recruitment, hiring, and training of staff and part time OPS staff that assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of the functional area.

Ensures all safety practices are followed.

Assists in the development of operating budgets, purchasing, and inventory control.

Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures to ensure effective operations.

Assists with special projects as assigned.

Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.

Other Duties:

Must be willing and available to work with all athletic teams’ seasonal schedules (weekend, evening, and holiday work)

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.

Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or able to obtain within three months of employment.

Three years of full-time professional experience in a higher education athletics department related to the position.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications will be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a closely related field.

Possess current Forklift Operator, American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire..

Experience scheduling and supervising the work of students, support, and professional employees.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.

Knowledge of applicable safety requirements.

Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.

Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures consistently.

Ability and willingness to assume new responsibilities.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.

Ability to establish collaborative and strategic relationships with a diverse group of colleagues, students, and the general public.

Salary Range: $36,000 - $37,000
