Job Description:

The Coordinator of Student Engagement Programming and Residence Life Staff Member is responsible for coordinating student engagement opportunities by promoting and facilitating campus programming. The Coordinator advises and supports the Student Activities Council (SAC) in the development of programming efforts; advises SGA class officers/councils; and coordinates Commuter services and programs. This position assists the Director of Student Engagement in advertising and marketing events to students, including oversight of club and organization use of Presence, the MCLA Event app for member registration, advertising, participation tracking and program assessment. The individual in this position works primarily within the Office of Student Engagement to promote an engaged student community through programming efforts. Additionally, this position has an ancillary role in Residence Life & Housing to provide support to the on-call rotation, incident management, and community development. A goal for this position overall is to help shape the institution's vibrant living and learning community and to help residential and commuter students build a sense of connection to the College. This is a live-in position, which requires night and weekend responsibilities.


  • Advise the Student Activities Council and assists in the development and coordination of programming efforts, including contract negotiation and review.
  • Advise SGA Class Councils and assists them with their programming and work with class officers to develop pride in class year.
  • Work with the Advancement Office and the Senior Class to assist with communications to and planning for senior activities, including senior yearbook photos, graduation information and Senior Days events.
  • Coordinate the established utilization of the MCLA Events Presence App with all students, organizations, and departments to advertise and document campus engagement opportunities on the app.
  • Work with SGA for effective communication and promotion strategies for student programs utilizing print, electronic, and social media resources to ensure that events and activities are well publicized and are reaching the diverse constituencies of the campus community.
  • Support Commuters with services intended to foster a sense of belonging at MCLA.
  • Support large scale programming efforts of the Director of Student Engagement.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings in Residence Life & Housing to understand and support the residence area community.
  • Work with and support Residence Directors and residents in the planning and implementation of a wide-range of educational, social, and recreational activities that foster a rich and engaging residential environment for students in all residence areas.
  • Assume campus-wide evening/weekend on-call rotation in conjunction with other administrative staff members.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed in the scope of related work duties.


  • Master's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience within co-curricular student engagement including program development and execution, student organization advising, and leadership training.
  • Evidence of ability to develop, coordinate and manage co-curricular programs and strong budget skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to accommodate supervision of evening and weekend programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse campus community members, including, students, faculty, staff, administration and the general public as well as outside company/agency contacts.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at various levels of completion, with the ability to work independently as well as within a diverse team. Demonstrated commitment to the value of co-curricular life in a liberal arts education.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Individual counseling and group advising skills.
  • Ability to use computer software including Microsoft Office, desktop publishing, social media and website management.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, position in the APA bargaining unit. Salary Range for this position is $40,000-$45,000.
