The Institute for Future Conflict at the United States Air Force Academy seeks an Associate Director.  The selectee will direct and coordinate the efforts of a multi-disciplined staff of military, civilian, and/or contractors tasked with supporting the mission of USAFA with the insights, tools, and experiences critical to cadets’ development as officers of character able to think critically about the technological advancements changing the character of war. The selectee will coordinate with institutional leadership to integrate IFC resources and mission with Dean of Faculty (DF) research, academic, and teaching outcomes. The selectee will promote and coordinate faculty and cadet research, determine the center's areas of research emphasis, and support the acquisition and disbursement of research funding. The selectee will oversee administrative and budgetary efforts to support IFC initiatives, to include visiting faculty, cadet/faculty internships and programs, conferences and symposia, and lecture series. The selectee will also conduct a program of research in field of specialization, and oversee IFC communication initiatives within the USAFA strategic communication structure.

Required Position Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree is required in addition to academic and professional experience related to national security. Direct experience in the planning, development, fielding, and/or employment of this nation’s most sophisticated capabilities at the operational level of conflict. Must be able to acquire a Top Secret clearance. The ideal candidate will have academic and professional/government experience related to national security as well as the influence of emerging technology on the changing character of conflict. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with leadership experience in academic or government research centers. The United States Air Force Academy is committed to building a culturally diverse educational environment.
