Position Summary:

This position will support faculty and staff of the Department of Animal & Dairy Sciences at two physical locations, the Animal Sciences Building at 1675 Observatory Drive and the Meat Science and Animal Biologics Discovery program (MSABD) at 1933 Observatory Drive. A split work schedule across the two physical locations will be developed with the supervisor, based on the successful applicant's work approach and the needs of faculty and staff at the two locations.

The Administrative Assistant will function as the first point of contact for the Department of Animal & Dairy Sciences while providing administrative support at both locations. This position is responsible for administrative support for the development and implementation of a wide range of activities including administrative support to the Department Chair, Department Administrator, MSABD Director, and other faculty and staff in carrying out our instruction, research and extension activities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

H.S. Diploma preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Prior work experience providing administrative and logistical support for team-based initiatives.

Proficiency in using digital tools such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, Teams, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, WebEx, Zoom, Blackboard Collaborate, social media platforms, and other cloud-based tools for meeting, scheduling, storing and sharing information.

Additional Information:

This is a multifunctional position for the Department of Animal & Dairy Sciences. The desire to work in a fast-paced, friendly, and customer-oriented atmosphere is paramount. The ability to represent the University and the Department to the general public in a polite, professional and informative manner is crucial.
