Job Summary/Basic Function



The Office of Diversity and Inclusion works with the Maryville University community to make our campus a welcoming place for everyone. The InclusiveMU Student Program Coordinator will learn how to research and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice programs with an inclusive lens in mind. This position will allow the employee to gain more knowledge and expertise regarding inclusive programming for all social identities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the Multicultural Scholars Program Peer & Faculty/Staff Mentor Programs
  • Communicate with mentoring community on expectations, due dates, and curriculum
  • Edit and update curriculum as needed
  • Track contact time sheets and alert supervisor of any concerns that arise
  • Review and analyze data collected
  • Assist with training opportunities for the mentor program
  • Act as the main contact person for any components of the mentoring program
  • Coordinate the departmental cultural immersions spring break trip to New Orleans
  • Reserve transportation, hotel, outings, chaperones, meals, etc.
  • Communicate with students attending the trip
  • Serve as a chaperone for cultural immersions trip
  • Oversee budget for cultural immersions
  • Promote and support the mission of the Office Diversity and Inclusion
  • Ability to research and collect ideas, suggestions, and recommendations for programming initiatives
  • Effectively manages time and projects
  • Facilitate social media content for the office
  • Communicate about the office mission, purpose, and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned




Minimum Qualifications



• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
• Positive attitude and eager to learn Growth mindset
• Preferred majors: Communication, Education, Psychology, Business, Liberal Studies, Management & Leadership, or Marketing
• Understanding or willingness to learn about cultural differences and cultural competence
• Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Willingness to engage in activities that will encourage introspection and self-reflection; open-mindedness and inquiry; and empathy and intentionality.
• Introductory knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience in program development, and strong communication and research skills.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to engage and interact with students from multicultural backgrounds
  • Strong computer and research skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
