Job Summary/Basic Function



The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic, a program of Maryville University, serves the mission to teach two- through six-year-old children with speech and language disorders the communication skills necessary to succeed in school and throughout their lives. The Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology Apprentice will assist the Walker Clinic’s bilingual speech-language pathologist (SLP) to serve the needs of Spanish-speaking clients and families through the KidTalk-Spanish Program.

Responsibilities:
• Speak fluent Spanish with Walker Clinic clients
• Respond to telephone calls and messages from referred new clients who speak Spanish
• Assist new client families who speak Spanish in completing the Clinic’s online patient portal and enrollment process and/or providing community referrals to other agencies
• Schedule Spanish speaking clients with initial screenings and evaluations as well as identify the need for in-person or telepractice services
• Assist the bilingual SLP with treatment needs, such as Spanish material preparation, follow-up messaging and client re-scheduling



Minimum Qualifications



• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
• Positive attitude and eager to learn Growth mindset
• Fluent in reading and speaking Spanish
• Preferred major: Health Professions, Music Therapy or Communication Sciences and Disorders
