To perform challenging surgical techniques (to induce myocardial infarction) with USDA animals (utilizing the conscious model of infarction) as well as smaller animals (mice and rats) and also independently perform echocardiography, Millar catheterization and molecular studies and analyze data. This individual will also assist with ordering supplies and help with paperwork for animal protocols (amendments and renewals) in addition to maintaining the lab in excellent condition and help with lab inspections. Required Qualifications
Extensive background in animal surgery, especially rabbit and mouse myocardial infarction (with emphasis on CAESAR conscious rabbit model). … Moreover, the applicant must be very competent in performing echocardiography (with speckle-tracking for strain analysis) in rodents and rabbits… as well as excellent background in biochemistry, molecular biology and protein chemistry …. Must have thorough experience in histological, immunochemical and immunofluorescent staining of tissue…. Experience in proper animal handling and drug administration via different routes… Ability to work in a diverse environment. Preferred Qualifications
