Position Function:

Mississippi State University invites applications for full-time, nine month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning August 2022. The position involves conducting research and publishing in top-tier academic journals, teaching supply chain/logistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and providing appropriate service to the university, business community, and discipline.

Department Profile:

The Department of Marketing, Quantitative Analysis and Business Law comprises a collegial group of faculty that deliver outstanding undergraduate programs in marketing and supply chain logistics, while providing service courses in business quantitative analysis, and business law for business-related majors. At the graduate level, the department offers a Ph.D. Program in marketing and delivers doctoral-level courses to support the college's doctoral programs and delivers masters-level courses to support the college's on-campus and distance MBA programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach marketing and supply chain/logistic courses in the undergraduate and graduate levels. Conduct research in the field of supply chain and logistics. Provide appropriate service to the university, business community, and discipline. Other activities as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in a directly related field (i.e., Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Management, Marketing, Operations Management, Decision Sciences) or other field with substantial graduate course work in supply chain management, logistics, marketing, operations management, or management science. An interest in teaching in the areas of supply chain and related subjects, particularly in transportation, procurement, or process improvement; as well as a desire to conduct high-quality collaborative research in the areas of supply chain and logistics are required. Expertise in contemporary research methods, as well as popular practitioner tools such as Power BI, SAP, or Tableau are also desirable. Subject to compatibility with the Mississippi State College of Business journal list, a candidate’s extant body of work published in quality peer-reviewed academic journals will be recognized for future promotion and tenure. Interdisciplinary or collaborative research within business disciplines is encouraged. Outstanding ABDs, very near completion, with a strong research record and professional and outreach experience, will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned doctorate from an AACSB-accredited institution.
Experience as an assistant professor
Evidence of excellent teaching skills.
Professional industry and/or practitioner outreach experience is highly desired.
Expertise in contemporary research methods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Commitment to high quality teaching and research;
2. Strong communication skills including writing and public speaking;
3. Ability to work effectively with students in a classroom environment;
4. Ability to supervise graduate students' research projects and dissertations;
5. Willingness to serve on department, college, and university committees; and
6. Intra personal skills necessary to work effectively with students and colleagues in a
multidisciplinary department.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Classroom settings range from 30-450 student sections. Maintain appropriate office hours for student conferences Participate in discipline related conferences. Engage in departmental, college, and university service functions.
