The Office of Institutional Analytics at Rollins College is currently seeking an Institutional Research Specialist to join their team! This role requires developing and maintaining a comprehensive institutional research program in collaboration with other units of the college to extrapolate, collect and verify data for government agency reporting, survey reporting, policy formulation, decision-making, marketing, and integrity. The Institutional Research Specialist will play an active role in Data Governance on campus and make striving efforts to improve overall data quality and data definitions at the institution, as well as encourage the use of data for decision making.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the development and execution of all phases of institutional research projects, including design, implementation, analysis, visualization, and report preparation.
  • Compile, organize, analyze, and maintain statistical and demographic data for institutional research, planning, and reporting purposes.
  • Assist in conducting research, compiling data, and composing responses for College, state, and federal reporting, as well as for publishers and rating systems in cooperation with other departments.
  • Present data as needed to assist the administration and other key constituents with institutional decision-making.
  • Coordinate and complete in a timely and accurate manner all core institutional research projects including disseminating information to federal and state agencies (like IPEDS, FETPIP, National Student Clearinghouse etc.) as well as institutional surveys like CIRP, NSSE, COACHE, First Destination Survey etc.
  • Update the annual Fact Book and Common Data Set (CDS).
  • Gather and monitor submission of data for external constituents such as ACT, College Board, Princeton Review, Peterson, Great College to Work, U.S News, AAUP, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a business glossary for the College using tools like Data Cookbook and working in conjunction with Enterprise Data Warehouse staff in IT, Data Governance committee and with assistance of Institutional Data Specialist/Data Governance coordinator.
  • Assist with periodic and special ad hoc report development and update.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Institutional Analytics to develop and conduct consortium-based planning and research projects with peer institutions – e.g. HEDS, ICUF, AIR, SAIR, National Clearinghouse, et al.
  • Participate in College task forces and committees; and in professional organizations to remain informed on national and professional trends.
  • Perform related administrative duties and on occasions supervise or assign tasks to Institutional Data Specialist and/or other student assistants in the Office of Institutional Analytics.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in higher education administration (or Master’s degree in a related field) and one (1) year of experience in higher education administration required.
  • Technical skills for performing duties of the position include knowledge of a Student Information System, and experience with statistical querying tools and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of data gathering, analysis, and interpretation related to trends in higher education.
  • Advanced Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint; with a willingness and ability to expand technical skillsets.
  • Synthesizes complex issues and presents them in a creative and non-technical manner in both print and online, including data visualizations and dashboards.
  • Assists with the SACSCOC compliance efforts as needed.
  • Ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong documentations skills and ability to use project management tools to consistently handle multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently at times and to collaborate with others in a team-driven environment when needed.
  • Strong problem solving, presentation skills, and ability to interact effectively with internal and external constituents to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working at an Institutional Research office.
  • Experience using data querying tools such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, Alteryx, Tableau Prep etc. effectively (SAS Enterprise Guide preferred).
  • Experience using Student Information System like Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, Workday etc.
  • Experience using survey tools like Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Google Forms etc.

  • Special projects and deadlines could demand flexibility in work schedule, including weekends.
