The University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business seeks applications for a senior assistant professor (tenure track) or associate professor (tenure track or tenured) in finance for a position beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. The Beacom School of Business is the flagship business school in South Dakota and the region with its programs consistently receiving high national rankings from institutions such as U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review and others.

 

The Beacom School of Business’ state-of-the-art Ellis Finance and Analytics Lab provides faculty and students the opportunity for research and business analysis utilizing Bloomberg terminals.  Faculty in finance offer an undergraduate major and a specialization in the MBA program.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes in finance. An interest in or expertise in Investments, Derivatives, and/or International Finance is desired. The instructor is expected to bring a unique and innovative educational experience to students through classroom teaching and mentorship. As such, there is the opportunity for student engagement through mentoring student activities outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes on campus and online. Duties include an annual teaching load of eighteen (18) credit hours (typically, six classes), engaging in related scholarly research, and service for the Department, profession, and broader community.

 

REQUIRED: A Ph.D. in finance or a related field from an AACSB-International accredited business school is required, although ABDs with successful defense by start date will be considered.  Expertise in any area of finance will be considered.  Candidates must have a record of or potential for contribution to the scholarship of finance. Other requirements are proficiency in oral and written communication, and enthusiasm for engagement, service, and the public good.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: An interest or expertise in teaching Investments and Derivatives at the undergraduate level and/or International Finance at the undergraduate and graduate level is desired. Also preferred is a scholarly interest that complements the position’s teaching fields. Candidates with enthusiasm for working with diverse student, staff, and faculty are preferred.
