9 month academic year position – August through May

Provide quality comprehensive care for all student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation.

  • Screening and referral of student-athletes to Barnes Center physicians when appropriate
  • Serve as the certified athletic trainer for sport club program: including practice and home game coverage.
  • Compile and maintain injury and treatment documentation for the Barnes Center medical staff.
  • Communicate with coaches and athletic department staff on various issues, including but not limited to: the Sports Medicine Department policies and procedures, student-athlete status, restrictions and treatment/rehabilitation, appointment compliance and progress
  • Assist Barnes Center physicians and staff with the operation of clinic hours.
  • Assist with upkeep of the facilities, emergency equipment and modalities.
  • Communicate with Barnes Center Recreation staff on various issues, including student-athlete status, restrictions and treatment/rehabilitation appointment compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in health related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association
  • Registered athletic trainer in the State of New York
  • 1-3 plus years of work experience at a Division One institution (Preferred)
  • CPR Certified
  • Training in Bloodborne pathogens
  • Certified in Functional Movement Screening (Preferred)
  • Soft Tissue Mobilization certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a certified athletic trainer for sport club program.
  • Provide quality comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation.
  • Provide coverage for practices and competitions. Assist with concussion testing and return to play protocols.
  • Assist Barnes Center physicians and staff with the operation of clinic hours.
  • Compile and maintain injury and treatment documentation for the Barnes Center physicians including injury tracking and reporting. Assist with the Electronic Medical records.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Barnes Center physicians and recreation staff.
