Microbiology:  Microbiology Lab Technician to handle and prepare human biological samples for downstream polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for Covid-19.

The Microbiology Lab Technician will set up high through put PCR reactions using 96- and/or 384-well plates using manual and robotic procedures, running PCR instrument, and collecting and reporting data. Candidates should be capable of troubleshooting potential problems associated with sample handling and preparation, equipment operation and data collection while maintaining data confidentially and sample custody.  Candidates should have good communication skills and able to personally and professionally interact with team members. 

Required: BS in biological sciences including microbiology, chemistry/biochemistry, biology or closely related field.  Conceptually and technically familiar with PCR technology and procedures, training in basic/general laboratory methods and equipment used in a modern biology, microbiology and/or biochemistry laboratory.  Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to a candidate with a MS degree and practical training in molecular biology methods and equipment, including PCR, currently used for surveillance purposes.
