ELearning: Professional Education Learning Designer works to enhance Miami University's professional development opportunities as part of the University's Miami Online office. This individual will support the planning, designing, and development of effective learning experiences for a variety of non-credit offerings. This position actively collaborates with individual faculty, programs, and departments and is an integral part of an office engaged in learning design, learning multimedia, learning innovation, and learning technology & support. The ideal candidate in this position brings to it (or demonstrates potential to learn) knowledge of pedagogical theory & amp; best practices for utilizing technology to enhance learning.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Communicate and collaborate with faculty in planning courses, selecting appropriate

educational technology, and course delivery strategies.

  • Apply instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
  • Create engaging and effective learning activities and compelling course content in

collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Analyze and apply trends in learning technologies and instructional design.
  • Serve as a liaison to academic departments to discover and support their Professional

Education needs.

  • Coordinate and complete Professional Education projects.

Required: Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, communication, media, business, or a closely related field. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with others to accomplish goals; Ability to organize and pay attention to details. Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Consideration may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree, preferably in instructional design, education, communication, media, business, or relevant field; Demonstrated experience in building technologically mediated courses; Experience with Open EdX and/or Canvas; Knowledge of and experience in professional development training; Familiarity with HTML and CSS;  Advanced experience or skill in any of these desired specialties: Learning Design,  Learning Media, Learning Innovation; Learning Technology & amp.
