Position Summary

The School of Public Health & Health Professions seeks a dynamic, graduate admissions focused professional for the position of Assistant Director, Graduate Recruitment. You will play an integral role in bringing to the School students who will become future leaders in a world where public health & health-related disciplines are at the forefront of our daily lives.
Each day you will engage with a variety of stakeholders within the School (e.g., faculty, staff, students, executive leadership) to move forward the School’s mission of improving the lives of individuals and populations. This will be accomplished by formulating a strategic, measurable plan to actively educate both internal & external prospective students to our academic programs. Most importantly, you will work with stakeholders to ensure that our student body is representative and inclusive. This will require you to be actively involved in day-to-day admissions operations, while also co-constructing a vision and strategy for creating the public health & health professions workforce of the future.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
  • Formulate and carry out a strategic, measurable recruitment plan for all SPHHP graduate programs
  • Consult with stakeholders regarding best practices for recruiting and admitting a representative and inclusive student body
  • Update leadership on progress & current cycle data routinely
  • Take action based on data to address immediate recruitment cycle needs
  • Oversee the SPHHP graduate student ambassador program
  • Lead the SPHHP Graduate Enrollment Management Committee

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience working in higher education recruitment and/or admissions setting.
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of and experience with a Customer Relationship Management System ( CMS )
  • Knowledge of the disciplines housed within UB SPHHP
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse population of students and individuals. The ability to make effective presentations in large and small group settings, and virtually.
  • Position incumbents must be able to work non-standard (evening and weekend) hours.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Previous experience with SLATE, Customer Relationship Management System ( CMS )
  • Five years’ experience in a directly related field, such as in public health and health professions student recruitment or admissions.
  • Record of successful recruitment outcomes within a higher education setting
