Job Summary

The coordinator for online student experience and communications prioritizes communication and engagement to enhance the overall experience of online students. This position is responsible for providing students consistent and ongoing academic monitoring and mentoring. This role holds a primary focus on student success, including nonacademic factors.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Monitors and evaluates online student needs and determines effective responses, strategies, and/or solutions
  • Works with corresponding University departments to coordinate online student participation in University events; acknowledges students’ participation during honors convocation and commencement ceremonies
  • Assesses programs, orientations, opportunities, and other elements of the student experience, and uses results to drive continuous improvement
  • Applies collaborative practices, ensuring all student and stakeholder voices are heard and actively influence outcomes
  • Promotes opportunities for experiential learning and processes for accessing resources that support the academic success and personal well-being of online students
  • Collaborates with student services departments to assist students with academic support and problem resolution
  • Maintains current knowledge of online student structure, policies, and processes and provides guidance to students
  • Researches ideal approaches to foster online student learning, including study, testing, and organizational methods


Service Excellence

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork
  • Acts as a Lion Life Coach for online students by assisting them with academic resources and providing academic mentoring for those identified as high risk for attrition
  • Serves as a student liaison between schools, departments, and partner organizations


Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration

  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality and explains and follows all guidelines in accordance to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Consults with Student Financial Services (SFS), the Business Office, faculty, staff, and other individuals involved in students’ success and integration
  • Collaborates with school administrators and faculty to ensure accurate online program information
  • Collaborates with schools and departments to ensure comprehensive online student orientations and communications from college deans and other academic administrators
  • Ensures accurate and regular communications with online students and graduates
  • Collaborates with University personnel to systematically collect, maintain, analyze, and distribute comprehensive online student feedback and graduate data; communicates findings in LindenCircle
  • Assists the student support and accessibility manager with the accommodation application process for online students

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of three years’ professional work experience in higher education
  • Previous experience teaching or taking online courses preferred
