Senior Application Administrator - Facilities Systems (Current UVU Employees Only)
Position Category: Staff - Full-Time
Summary:
Administers, and maintains enterprise-level IT systems and applications through the implementation of industry best practices and vender recommendations through advanced systems administration techniques and security standards for the UVU's Facilities Division. Applies system administration, security knowledge and skills to systems and application in both a physical and virtual environment to support of core organizational functions. Provide escalated support for all Campus Services data systems including but not limited to Oracle and MS SQL databases, inventory software, Windows servers, and the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Sprocket). Assist the Facilities Department with identifying, evaluating, and implementing technology-based solutions for improving facilities operations and infrastructure management. Will provide support for all building automated systems and I.T. related software. Ensures optimal performance and high availability of enterprise applications. Provides technical leadership across the organization, from strategic decision making to project planning. This Position will have a dual report. With the primary report to the Director of Campus Services and an accountability report to the Director of Enterprise Systems Administration.
Accountability Report definition: Accountability to Enterprise IT Infrastructure Services to coordinate projects, maintain standard configurations and compatibility with central systems. Leverage enterprise licensing and economies of scale. Maximize the level of system support and minimize losses from outages and downtime. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field plus three years of work experience in IT or a combination of education and experience in a related field totaling seven years.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of modern industry technology and best practices for facilities software and systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environment, Microsoft SQL Database administration.
- Knowledge of server virtualization and private and public cloud computing, including common Hypervisor and Virtual Systems Management platforms.
- Knowledge and experience in a customer service, team oriented, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of how to write and generate reports and how to present data and ideas.
- In-depth knowledge on how to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and research technical issues.
- Familiarity with facilities planning and workflow.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, application protocols, anti-virus software.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP directories.
- Working knowledge of numerous operating systems, such as Windows and Linux.
- Skill in developing strategies for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems or processes.
- Strong skills in decision making, problem solving, exercising effective interpersonal communication, prioritization, organization, and research.
- Skill in working in a team and developing policy and generating resolutions to complex problems.
- Skill with working with Oracle and MSSQL databases and quickly making changes and fixes as necessary.
- Skill in communicating with others and working in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
- Ability to make changes and adapt to changes in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to quickly find solutions to problems both technical and personnel/policy related.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in verbal, written, and electronic means.
- Ability to prioritize and handle various tasks of differing natures at the same time is a must.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documentation and procedures pertaining to systems and the virtual environment.
- Ability to think logically, resolve problems, identify tasks, and develop strategic project plans.
- Ability to be self-motivated with a strong customer service orientation and a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and requests based on the organizational goals and objectives of the University.

Physical Requirements:
This position will require sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. Some light physical duties will require standing, stooping, bending and kneeling.
