Who We Are
The mission of the Office of Human Resources is to strategically partner with the university community as a comprehensive, innovative, and results-oriented department modeled on the very best human resources practices. We deliver a variety of services and programs, which underscore a commitment to inclusiveness, respect, fairness, effective service delivery, and accountability. We strive to be proactive, consultative partners meeting the needs of employees and operations across the institution and to lead efforts to attract, retain, develop, and engage world-class faculty and staff. Human Resources is a unit in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university's many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible, and beautiful.

Working in UO Human Resources provides a unique opportunity to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our workforce. We strive to be champions for building and supporting a community that reflects a rich variety of racial and ethnic, socioeconomic, gender and sexual orientation, disability, cultural, and intersectional identities. We encourage applications from those whose experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion, from individuals who have been historically marginalized and currently underrepresented in higher education, individuals who may have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in non-traditional pathways outside of higher education.

The Talent Acquisition team within Human Resources supports the University's efforts to attract, hire, and retain world-class faculty and staff. We provide guidance, consultative support, and transactional assistance, as well as create tools and resources for all stages of recruitment and hiring. In providing these essential services, we are committed to collaborative relationships with our campus partners, responsiveness to candidate needs and trends, continuous improvement, creative solutions, and compliance. In 2021, our most important strategic objectives are improving our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and reducing implicit bias in recruitment and selection. If you want to make a difference during a time of organizational change, this might be the opportunity for you.

What will you do as a Recruitment Consultant?
You'll support an assigned group of campus departments by offering expertise, tools, and resources regarding their unique recruiting and hiring needs. You'll advise your partner units on search planning, recruitment outreach, selection methodologies, hiring processes, and onboarding activities. Although we don't source or interview candidates for our assigned groups, you'll serve as an occasional resource to applicants, answering inquiries about employment at the University and application procedures.

You'll consult with a wide variety of internal customers, from department-based HR representatives and front-line managers to senior leaders. You will help department HR representatives ensure that searches are planned and conducted effectively and efficiently. You'll also maintain and clearly communicate procedures and practices, including best use of the MyTrack talent management system for job postings, candidate review, search documentation, and offers.

If you like project work, there's plenty of opportunity to build and implement. Current projects include revamping our model recruitment processes and tools, partnering on search advocacy, building awareness of and addressing implicit bias, and business process improvement. You'll be a subject matter expert, representing a center of excellence: designing, developing, and delivering training, and monitoring our policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable University policies, laws, and regulations.

As representatives of the Talent Acquisition team, all of our recruitment consultants promote best practices in interactions with all constituents, reflecting the values of the University and aligning with our institutional commitment to maintain an environment of inclusive excellence for all members of our community.

This position assists and acts in a confidential capacity; the ability to handle confidential material appropriately and maintain an institutional perspective is critical.
