Department Summary
The College of Education (COE) is organized in four academic departments and 16 research and outreach centers. All departments include both tenure and career non-tenure track faculty, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs addressing the full range of issues present in educational and social systems. A range of academic degrees and majors are offered, including educational leadership, communication disorders and sciences, elementary and secondary education, school psychology, counseling psychology, couples and family therapy, special education, teacher education studies, administrator preparation, and quantitative research methods. As noted in our mission statement, COE faculty, staff, and students are committed to developing and validating programs that prepare scholars and practitioners, while promoting respect for diversity, equitable opportunities, and inclusive environments. Further information about the leadership programs, college, and university is accessible at https://education.uoregon.edu/.

The faculty in the Department of Education Studies (EDST) has a very diverse research portfolio that spans a wide array of interests and specializations, with award recognition for scholarship, teaching, and service. EDST programs are known for a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. EDST licensure and degree programs prepare professionals to use the best of research-based practices to teach children and adult learners alike. For undergraduates, EDST offers BA/BS in Educational Foundations and Secondary Certificate program pathways for students ultimately interested in pursuing graduate studies and licensure (in programs such as UOTeach) towards achieving the goal of becoming an elementary or secondary teacher. UOTeach is the teacher licensure master's program in Curriculum and Teaching for initial licensure in both Elementary Multiple Subjects and Middle/High School Education. The PhD program in Critical and Sociocultural Studies in Education (CSSE) provides a comprehensive approach to educational research.

Given the unique ways in which individuals from historically marginalized racial and ethnic groups, sexual- and gender-minorities, students with disabilities, and students with immigrant, language learner, and/or low-income status have been poorly served in schools, as well as recent compelling evidence on student-teacher matching, we strongly encourage members of such groups to apply for this position. We also recognize that evidence suggests that women and members of historically marginalized racial and ethnic groups self-select out of positions due to concerns over failure to meet minimal requirements; we strongly encourage such applicants to apply even if they are uncertain about their qualifications

Position Summary
The College of Education is seeking to hire an educator to collaborate with members of the EDST department, and across the faculty of the college and university to provide clinical instruction to students and supervisors of students in the Department of Education Studies MEd programs in Curriculum and Teaching (UOTeach) and the added endorsement programs in M.S. program in Curriculum and Teacher Education (CTEd). Faculty will have a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, scholarship, working with underrepresented populations, and creating an inclusive environment for our increasingly diverse student body.

Our goal in the Department of Education Studies is to set our teacher candidates on career-long paths to purposeful, reflective, creative, and meaningful careers. The clinical assistant/associate professor will advise and mentor licensure/graduate students in our MEd programs in Curriculum and Teaching (UOTeach), and MS in Curriculum and Teacher Education (CTEd).

Instructional assignments for this position will include clinical instruction at either the elementary or secondary level of endorsement. Additional instructional content areas will include accreditation mandated courses in educational psychology, ESOL pedagogy, educational equity and inclusion, and subject specific teaching methods as appropriate based on expertise of selected candidate. Additional educational foundations instructional areas may include Indigenous pedagogy, gender and sexuality studies in education, and educational foundations. Through teaching, advising, mentoring, and intellectual contributions to academic program design, this position has the potential to guide and shape the next generation of educational leaders in Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and Nation.

Substantive expertise in areas critical to Oregon and the nation's curriculum and teaching field are welcome, including culturally sustaining pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistic and racial diversity and equity, trauma and resilience instructional supports, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, subject area pedagogy, alternative models of schooling post-pandemic, or other expertise relevant to equity centered curriculum and teaching. So, too, is the ability to teach an array of applied educational foundations and curriculum and instruction courses on topics such as Indigenous pedagogy, English Language Learning (ELL/ESOL), gender and sexuality studies in education, and educational foundations.
This position is a nine-month Career Faculty position in the Clinical Professor classification series.
