About the Position:
The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at California State University, Fullerton and fits within the overall mission of the University. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Head Coach, Men's/Women's Track and Field. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Track and Field Coach provides leadership and oversight of all aspects of the men's outdoor track and field, women's indoor and outdoor track and field and the men's and women's cross-country programs. Primary responsibilities involve fundraising, management, administration, supervision and coordination of the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country program. Collaborate with the Strength and Conditioning Department to develop and implement a strength and conditioning program for student-athletes to ensure proper preparation for intercollegiate athletics competition. Recruit Division I quality student-athletes of good character and academically prepared to be successful and earn a degree from CSUF. Develop and implement a recruiting program which evaluates, recruits and selects qualified prospects capable of success in the classroom and on the field. Actively participates in fundraising, sports promotional activities, speaking engagements, and alumni events as requested or approved for the sports program. Participate in public relations activities that strengthen the relationship between the university and the community. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; graduate degree desired. Demonstrated successful coaching experience in a highly competitive intercollegiate track and field program in a diverse setting. Demonstrated ability to recruit Division I level student-athletes and demonstrated commitment to their academic success. Experience in managing an athletic budget and formulating an intercollegiate track and field schedule. Ability to interact successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, and to work harmoniously with students and colleagues. Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Current CPR certification is required.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Five years of coaching a highly competitive intercollegiate Men’s/Women’s Track and Field program, preferably at the Division I level.
